We are pleased to inform you that the Women International Network (WIN), a national charity duly incorporated under the Central Act 2 of 1882 as a non-political, non-governmental and non-profit making organisation is organizing Indo- South African Women Empowerment Summit 2013 followed by Universal Humanity Award 2013 ceremony and press conference (Role of Media in Women Empowerment Globally)  on the occasion of  World Humanitarian Day at New Delhi in association with South African High Commission, Astitv-Mujhe se meri pehchan, The Global Open University Nagaland and Indira Gandhi Medical and Technological University, Arunachal Pradesh. The day honours all humanitarians who have worked in the promotion of the humanitarian cause and those who have lost their lives in the cause of duty. WIN aims to increase public awareness about humanitarian assistance activities worldwide and the importance of international cooperation. For the year 2013 and beyond, it is anticipated that World Humanitarian Day will focus on particular humanitarian themes to help increase public awareness. World Humanitarian Day is a global observance by all associates and volunteers of Women International Network (WIN) all across the Globe.

Humanitarians provide life-saving assistance to millions of people worldwide. They place their own lives at risk to help others in conflict zones and areas of natural hazards. Many humanitarian workers have died or experienced the most dangerous situations while trying to help those in need at Uttarakhand disaster recently. Humanitarians provide support for different World challenges such as hunger, gender-based violence, refugees and displaced people, help for children, as well as clean water and access to sanitation.  The total number of people affected by natural disasters has risen over the past decade and about 211 million people are directly affected each year. Women and children are especially affected because of their ongoing struggles with poverty, insecurity, hunger, poor health and environmental decline. There are new and difficult challenges that arise each year that will require more flexible funding and adaptable humanitarian work. The increasing economic crisis and global challenges such as poverty, global health problems, increase prices and the rising number of people on the move, increases the need for humanitarians each year.

World Humanitarian Day offers us a timely chance for a similar change in course  for a much-needed paradigm shift and a recommitment  to implementation. Our challenge on this day and beyond is to take a holistic, integrated approach to these linked challenges driving at the interrelations such that solutions to one problem translate into progress on all. We have also invited the Representatives of all foreign missions in India including the Ambassadors, High Commissioners, Plenipotentiaries other Diplomats and their family members for sharing the thoughts regarding the state of affairs of mankind in different countries of the World in general and in India in particular. The idea behind is to promote better respect for dedicated humanitarians worldwide as well as to increase public understanding of humanitarian assistance activities. Hard but necessary choices  lie ahead. We need an outcome that is simultaneously practical and transformational. It may be mentioned that more than 250 delegates including management experts, diplomats, bureacrats, journalists and industralist will be participating to acknowledge generous people  who are working in the different fields for the upliftment of humanity. We will be felicitating those eminent souls by Universal Humanity Award.
